White Howlite Cabochon 25mm

3.30 quantity:
Howlite was discovered in Nova Scotia, Canada in the nineteenth century. It is an opaque stone which forms irregular nodules. Howlite is usually white or grey with a web like pattern of black marbling and has a sub vitreous lustre.

As howlite is quite a porous stone, it is quite often dyed a bright blue to imitate turquoise (sometimes known as turquenite) and is occasionally dyed a dark blue to imitate lapis lazuli.

Howlite is quite a soft mineral, measuring 3.5 on Moh's scale of hardness.

The price shown is for one white howlite cabochon - these cabochons vary in colour from almost pure white to having an extensive network of black veins.
